Alan Schnall, MD

Dr. Schnall is Board-Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He received his B.A in Biology with a minor in Western Civilization from Touro College in New York, and earned his M.D. from NYU School of Medicine. He completed his Residency at the Manhattan VA Medical Center/NYU, after which he was selected for Chief Medical Resident at Booth Memorial Medical Center. He then returned to NYU/VA Medical Center, where he completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology.

Dr. Schnall is an Attending Physician at New York Presbyterian Queens, and previously served there as Assistant Director of Gastroenterology and the GI Fellowship Training Program with extensive teaching responsibilities. He is currently Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, and has been named on multiple occasions a Super Doctor in New York by the NY Times Magazine and as an America's Top Physician by The Consumer Research Council. He has been a lead investigator at Queens Endoscopy ASC for clinical studies to detect Barrett's Esophagus and Esophageal Cancer.

Dr. Schnall's clinical interests and area of expertise include Gastroesophageal Reflux, Barrett's Esophagus, Peptic Ulcer Disease and Stomach ailments, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Liver Disease and Colon Cancer Prevention. He is an active member of several organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology, N.Y. Society for GI Endoscopy, American Gastroenterologic Association, American College of Physicians, the Medical Society of the State of NY, and the American Society for GI Endoscopy.

Dr. Schnall is also very involved in his community. He serves on the Queens College Community Advisory Board, has been President of his synagogue for several terms and served on the executive Board for many years, is on the Board of Trustees of a local elementary school and is an active fundraiser for many Charitable Institutions.

Gloria has been working with Dr. Schnall for over 14 years. As the first person our patients have contact with, Gloria is truly the "face of the practice", and she reflects all that we stand for. She is intelligent, kind, empathetic and very reassuring to everyone with whom she speaks. We understand that coming to the doctor's office may be stressful, but our patients are immediately put at ease after interacting with Gloria. She is very knowledgeable about health insurance companies, and is proficient in obtaining authorizations for visits or procedures that are needed, and in helping to answer your financial questions.
